Riding the seals at the zoo

On the 4th of July weekend, Kevin, Allie, and I went to St. Louis to see Alex and Sybil. While we were there, Sybil and I took Allie to the zoo. It is a really nice zoo. My favorite exhibit was the peguins. If you were brave enough, you could touch them . I didn't try. They were swimming right in front of us. Allie liked the seal statues in the front of the park. The next day we went to Six Flags. Allie really enjoyed it. While we were waiting in line for a roller coaster, one of the cars came flying by us. She started pointing and said "Oooo!" really loud. It was so funny. Allie was doing that all day. When she got the chance to ride some rides, she really loved that too. I was surprised how well she did. The carousel was the first one and she was just smiling the whole time. After that we went on a kid's ride that went around in a circle and was going up and down. You could spin the balloon we were in but we decided not too. During that ride, Allie was holding my hand and the ride really tight but never started crying or acting scared. When the ride stopped, she started smiling and clapping with us. I think she liked the ride. :) That night Kevin and Alex shot fireworks to celebrate the 4th. They had some smaller fireworks and some really big ones. Allie loved watching them go off. It took her a few minutes to learn that you watch them shoot into the sky. Allie was watching them on the ground but then didn't look up to see them explode. Once I held her so that she was only watching the sky and she saw one explode, Allie got it then and loved the fireworks. She kept pointing at the fireworks and wanting Kevin and Alex to go faster. She also wanted to help them but I wouldn't let her near where they were shooting them. We had a great trip and 4th of July.

  1. We had a great time too! Allie is such a sweet baby - and so easy going too! Next time you all visit we will have to go to the City Museum...

  2. Now that we have internet in the house - this is one of the first sites we've checked! Thanks for the wonderful pictures and terrific narrative. Allie grows cuter and smarter every day. She looks so much older than her 12.5 months especially in the "driving the car" photo! love, Bess & Pop
