Florence May 21-22

Florence was a city that you could spend weeks in the museums and still not see it all. We went and saw the main sites. The Duomo was our first stop. In the Duomo there was a clock that really bothered me. The clock was upside down and it ran backwards. I had to find the answer as to why it was built this way. I finally found a sign about the clock. It was built like this to imiate the shadow on a sundial. I found that clock very fascinating. The Duomo is a building that stands out in Florence. It is green, white, and pink. In the plaza is the Duomo (church), baptistry, and bell tower. We made it to the top of the bell tower (414 steps) for a fantastic view of Florence.
One of the most popular sites to see in Florence is Michaelanglo's David. We were not able to take pictures of the real David so we took a picture of the replicate. The replicate sits were the original sat. The details in the sculpture just made you stop and look some more. The veins in his hands and neck seemed so real. His facial expression was lifelike. This was worth the wait to see.
Later that day we hiked up to Michaelanglo's plaza. This was a plaza dedicated to him. It also had a great panoramic view of Florence. Kevin and I got our picture made up there. It was so beautiful that we spend a long time just enjoying the view. On our way back to downtown Florence, we stopped and looked at the "Old Bridge." This bridge is the oldest one in Florence. It is lined with shops and vendors. The sun was setting as we were taking pictures. It was so wonderful that we had to wait till the sun was almost gone and then we rushed off to dinner. Dinner is only served for a few hours everynight so we needed to get there before all the tables were taken.
We had a great time in Florence.
